“We never did ACTUALLY get on the highway pictured in the brochure, in fact, we could not even take a good picture of it as we were so far away. The picture lied to us. False advertising. Never saw a bear as we were going so fast. Squeezed into a Skoda back seat with maximum tinted windows that looked like you were in the middle of the night looking out of them. Driver talked politics about half the time, not much commentary on life/buisnsses/country side until we got to the mountains. Basically a 12 hour trip for nothing. “Private tour was an understatement. Just the 2 of us with Christian our tour guide who gave us detailed history of the 2 sites and well as background of Romania’s history. Mogosoaia place was very serene. Beautiful place to sit and read or wander the grounds. Did not go into the church there as Easter service was on Snagov Monasterry is worth the price of admission just to see the inside. Beautiful and also very peaceful. Amazing icons and artwork, and of course Vlad’s grave.”

“Our guide for this trip was Catalin and he was excellent. Not only was he knowledgeable about our destinations he was also caring and thoughtful. The salt mine is breathtaking and so vast that it seems empty. The temperature is a steady 12 so you do end up with a cold nose (take tissues). On the way to Slanic we stopped at Snagov, another place showing the complete diversity of this country, and linked to Vlad the Impaler. It is advisable to take drinks and snacks with you (and tissues), good walking shoes and a coat or jumper.”
